Dr. Peter Lueninghoener is with Elkhorn Valley Family Medicine, PC, in O'Neill, Nebraska. Dr. Lueninghoener signed on to be a MUVer for Wide River TEC in July 2011. We asked Dr. Lueninghoener about his experience with EHRs, see his responses below.
-
In your opinion, what is the number one benefit of EHRs for providers and/or patients? Definite benefit - for providers, EHRs streamline the office and lowers overhead. For patients, they have their records accessible.
-
What made you decide to adopt EHRs? We started a new office seven years ago and didn’t want to start with paper.
-
What kind of training did you provide to your staff when you began the transition? How did your staff react? Two days of training was provided for providers and other staff. All accepted it very well – none of the staff would ever go back to paper.
-
How have your patients reacted? Very positively.
-
How did Wide River TEC help you? Assuring that we hit all the Clinical Quality Measures and when.
-
What advice would you have for a colleague beginning the shift to EHRs? To be very careful when choosing a system. Really look at the service they provide, which may be more important than the individual vendor.
