In your opinion, what is the number one benefit of EHRs for providers and/or patients? Convenience – all the information is right at your fingertips. Also, with patient care the follow-up is much easier.
-
What made you decide to adopt EHRs? To prepare for recruiting purposes to fill a position within the clinic, I knew this was something we had to do to get someone fill this position. The federal mandate and extra financing also helped in our decision.

How have your patients reacted? All excited! They perceive our office as Hi-Tech.

How did Wide River TEC help you? They have been wonderful from the beginning, very structured process. They helped with identifying Meaningful Use criteria. They have also helped with staff buying into Meaningful Use? I would absolutely, would recommend Wide River TEC to others.

What advice would you have for a colleague beginning the shift to EHRs? To visit their respective boards, i.e. internal medicine, family practice, and ask about vendor specifications and preference. We found a provider and clinic that was already using the vendor and we made some visits. All staff then went to a working practice to see the EHR vendor live. I recommend you do your own research within your specialty and visit an office where they are currently using the vendor.
