Why Work With Us?

Partner with the Wide River TEC – Nebraska’s Regional Extension Center

What does it mean to enroll?  By partnering with the Wide River TEC, you are signing up to partner with a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the Meaningful Use of EHRs in Nebraska. We’ll help you facilitate all phases of the EHR adoption process and avoid unnecessary waste of time and resources.

Wide River TEC’s goal is to help over 1,200 priority primary care practitioners adopt EHRs and achieve “meaningful use.”  Grant funding will cover most of our costs, but a small fee will be charged to practices to cover remaining costs. However, only practitioners that meet federal priority primary care practitioner’s criteria will be eligible to receive discounted services due to the federal subsidies provided to the program.

To be eligible for the Medicare or Medicaid incentives, eligible practitioners must:

  • Use a certified EHR in a meaningful manner
  • Exchange health information to improve the quality of care (through a health information exchange, if available); and
  • Report on quality measures.

Who can receive assistance as priority primary care practitioners?

  • Individual and small group practices  primarily focused on primary care; including family medicine, internal medicine, ob/gyn and pediatrics.
  • Public and critical access hospitals providing primary care.
  • Community and rural health centers that predominantly serve the uninsured, underinsured and medically-underserved populations.

What if I don’t qualify as a priority primary care practitioner?

  • Physicians and other healthcare providers with prescriptive privileges, including dentists, podiatrists and chiropractors, can receive assistance from Wide River TEC, although the subsidy will not apply.
